Quilting Bee , Los Angeles 2024

Fashion designer and artist Wataru Tominaga transformed the gallery space into a sewing room. Over the course of five days, a collective of local artists joined Tominaga in crafting a large patchwork quilt, which was exhibited as an artwork upon completion. This collaborative project challenges traditional gender roles in craft and artistry, encouraging visitors to reflect on the intersections of fashion, craftsmanship, and fine art. Participating artists in the Quilting Bee include Mathias Adam, Jonathan Edwards, Tristan Lahoz, Mariam Mujahidah, Toban Nichols, Corey Pemberton, Julian Rich, and Keigo Sato.
